VOXnorthwest is a studio of select voice students and dedicated instructors in Portland, Oregon.
We provide a joy-filled and professional environment to study the art of vocal performance for singers of all ages and experience levels.
Co-founders Matthew Hayward and Angela Niederloh are well known to the Oregon Music Community as performers and educators. They have served on the voice faculties of Portland State, George Fox and Pacific Universities. The studio works regularly with lead singers in the band Pink Martini, has served as vocal coach on the feature film "Souvenir" starring Isabelle Huppert and our studio members have appeared on national television programs, won vocal competitions on the State and National level, as well as scholarships to some of the most prominent music schools and conservatories in the United States and Europe.
Matthew Hayward is the founder of VOXnorthwest Voice Studio and has served on the voice faculties of Portland State and George Fox Universities. He is a sought after district and state vocal judge in Oregon, a master clinician at major universities throughout the West Coast, and dramatic and interpretive coach. In addition to teaching, Matthew is also an active performer in Opera and Musical Theater and has sung leading baritone roles throughout the United States and in Europe.
Angela Nierderloh has been acclaimed by the New York Times as “a charismatic mezzo soprano.” She recently made her Portland Opera debut as Melibea in II viaggio a Rheim. A recent participant in the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Angela was last seen as Meg Page in Falstaff, Karolka in Jenufa and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte. Other roles include Flora in La Traviata, Rosette in Manon and Olga in the Merry Widow. Angela is actively sought after nationally for music clinic workshops, including choirs and individual, and currently serves as a faculty member at Pacific University.
